Note: SPOILERS for past seasons of Game of Thrones - and for the fifth season too - below!
There are plenty of characters who could well return to Game of Thrones in its fifth season next year. George R.R. Martin's novels are a rich, inter-weaving tapestry, and people come, go, and when they haven't been brutally murdered, come back again a while later. There's one who we never expected to see again though, even in flashback: Jaqen H'ghar, Braavosi assassin, and sometime ally of Arya Stark - as played by Tom Wlaschiha.
The reason? The last time we saw Jaqen, he had just changed his entire face, discarding the look we knew and loved for...this guy's:
Which means that even if we were to meet Jaqen again, the chances of him being played by Wlaschiha seem about as likely as a Stark family reunion.
Except for one thing. Wlaschiha is coming back next season.
Ok, so, that's a thing then.
Winteriscoming.net are reporting that his acting agency have confirmed he will be returning for the fifth season - which might just mean we'll have a fairly large diversion from the books on our hands.
This is where the SPOILERS really kick in, by the way, so they're behind the handy spoiler cover below:
In the books, Arya ends up in Braavos, and sets out to become one of the Faceless Men, the group of assassins to which Jaqen himself belongs. She is trained there by a priest of the Many-Faced God known as the Kindly Man. Seeing as that character wasn't listed in the season 5 casting call, and Tom Wlaschiha looks set to return, odds are the two characters are going to be combined, cutting out the need to introduce a whole new character to audience members who haven't already read the books.
Which would be...pretty awesome, actually...
[Game of Thrones](movie:817617)returns in 2015 - with or without Tom Wlaschiha.
What do you guys think? Do you want to see Jaqen back next season?
