Japan is full of terrifying urban legends. The Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water... all grew from creepy Japanese horror stories. Check out these horrifying myths that you haven't seen in a horror movie...yet...

Teke Teke

Ew, this one really made my skin crawl. Teke Teke jumped in front of a train and was cut in half, but her vengeful torso scurries around for victims to scythe in half. Oh, and 'Teke Teke' refers to the sound she makes as she tip-taps her body across the floor with her hands.

Kushisake Onna

'The Woman With The Split Mouth' hides her mutilation beneath a surgical mask - before she jumps out at you, demanding to know if you think she's pretty. If you say no, she'll kill you with a giant pair of scissors. If you say yes, she'll slit your mouth like hers. Sound fair.

The Girl From The Gap

No, she's not that cute shop assistant you saw at your local branch of GAP. She's a little girl who lives in the spaces between your furniture. If you make eye contact with her, she'll ask you to play Hide and Seek - but her real goal is to drag you into another hellish dimension. F-R-E-A-K-Y.

Cowhead

Legend has it, a teacher was entertaining his class with freaky stories on a school bus trip. But once he started telling the tale of Cowhead, the kids started screaming, begging him to stop...but he couldn't.

When his story-trance was over, the children had fainted and were frothing at the mouth. The children never recovered, shivering and shaking until they died a few days later.
