The new Doctor is coming, and soon. The 23rd of August with the episode "Deep Breath" to be precise. As I write this, the latest teaser trailer (as seen above) has only been released in the last few precious minutes, and already the Whoviansphere is going crazy. We are all grasping to know what this new man will be like and so far we only know a few factoids about him
- He doesn't like the colour of his kidneys.
- He has forgotten how to fly the TARDIS after regeneration.
- The Doctor is once again questioning if he is a good man.
Throughout the 50th anniversary the Doctor, (and yes, I am referring to all three of them) at some point or another questioned his actions on the last day of the Great Time War. So should we be really surprised that after his newest regeneration the Doctor is doubting his past actions once again? The Doctor questioning who he is after a regeneration is not a new thing. Infact the 8th Doctor, portrayed by the wonderful and quite attractive man for his day, Paul McGann, completely forgot who he was entirely. regeneration has proven quite the ordeal at times.
"I'm the Doctor. Well they call me the Doctor. I don't know why. I call me the Doctor, too. Still don't know why." - The Doctor, The Lodger.
Short as the teaser trailer may be, and the little information that we have been given by the BBC about the 12th regeneration, I am rather looking forward to seeing him in action.
Personally I don't think Clara and the 'New' TimeLord will get on at first, at least Clara too is doubting who he is. Regeneration is a big thing, not just to the Doctor or any companion whom may be travelling with him at the time, but for the show itself. We have been promised by Moffat himself, that Doctor Who will be changing. Although many people do not like change, I think it will do the show good, it might perhaps even engage more people who have not watched Doctor Who before. I guess only time will tell!
The teaser trailer has definitely got me excited for series 8. I would love to know what you think of the Doctor so far! Please give me a comment below, or vote in the poll!
"That's the trouble with regeneration. You never quite know what you're going to get." - The Doctor, Castrovalva.
