From the Lord of the Rings movies to this July's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, actor Andy Serkis has become a household name with his acclaimed motion-capture performances. Along with the many talented VFX artists on the market, Serkis has brought such classic characters as Gollum, King Kong, Captain Haddock, and Caesar to the big screen. After making headlines by joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode 7, Serkis once again has the online community buzzing.

Recently, Serkis has confirmed in a Q&A session with Variety that in addition to Star Wars: Episode 7, he will also be lending his talents to the enormously-anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron.

When asked about his involvement on Avengers: Age of Ultron and Star Wars: Episode 7, Serkis stated:

...I’m playing a role (in both films). On ‘The Avengers,’ I’ve been working closely with Mark Ruffalo.

When asked if he will be acting on-screen, Serkis then said:

I’m not at liberty to mention. But it’s all the same to me. I’ve never drawn a distinction when playing a role, whether it be live action or performance capture. Acting is acting. It’s just basically what you wear to the set that’s different.

At the moment, it seems like Serkis can't confirm what role he will have, or even what kind of role. For now though, having him join the cast certainly adds an extra level of excitement for fans. You can Andy's next performance on July 11th, when Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters.
