Syfy recently kicked off its summer slate with one television based on a film property, Dominion, and now it looks set to continue that with a whole heap of new series and seasons.
The channel recently released a mash-up trailer which showed some of their upcoming projects which will hit the air in 2014. We see clips from [Ascension](movie:938667) , T [The Expanse](series:1338001) , [Helix](series:822306) , [Defiance](series:722102) and [Dominion](series:1065855) , but it's the entire new first looks from their [12 Monkeys](series:1055477) series which might be most interesting.
The sci-fi show, which is of course based off Terry Gilliam's 1995 time-travelling classic, Twelve Moneys, gets only a few seconds in the trailer, but already we can see some of the tone. Most notably, we possibly see Cole, played by Aaron Stanford, try to persuade Cassie Reynolds (Amanda Schull) he's from the future with the aid of a couple of watches. Take a look below:
We also got a nice look at the logo for the titular Army of the 12 Monkeys, the mysterious organisation some how involved in the epidemic which wipes out much of humanity in the future - and which Cole has gone back to prevent. Apparently, according to GiantFreakinRobot, this group will be treated quite differently from how they were in the film - with them actually playing a much larger part.
From this one trailer it's hard to see if the 12 Monkeys television series will match the greatness of the original of the movie - indeed, it's hard to even make out which parts are for 12 Monkeys. Personally, I imagine it won't, but the best we can hope for is a series which at least does the name some kind of justice, right?
What do you think of the trailer?
