Upcoming Cinemax drama The Knick hasn't been getting as much buzz as you'd expect - especially considering the quality of talent in front of and behind the camera. It is, after directed by Steven Soderbergh, and starring Clive Owen.

For those who aren't already setting their TiVo boxes, though - 10 newly released posters might just change your mind:

Added to all that, it's an intriguing premise. Taking a close look at the workings of the Knickerbocker hospital, way back in 1900, the series looks set to shine a light on the pioneering work of the surgeons, nurses and staff as they stretch the limits of what medicine can do. With an era lacking most recognizable elements of modern medicine as a backdrop - don't expect to see antibiotics, or the like - Owen plays Doctor John Thackery, a revolutionary surgeon with a secret cocaine addiction.

So it's not quite Grey's Anatomy crossed with Downton Abbey. Nurse Jackie mixed with Boardwalk Empire might be a closer match - but the show looks determined to find it's own path.

With Steven Soderbergh at the helm, though, would you expect anything less?

[The Knick](series:968791) is set to premiere August 8, on Cinemax.
