We've seen the Western and sci-fi merge several times in the annals of movie and television history, and now it looks like we'll get to see it again in the upcoming dystopian science fiction flick, Young Ones.

It's hard to tell from the admittedly stylish trailer whether this is more aimed at an adult or 'young adult' crowd. Some of the themes certainly seem to suggest the former, but a potential romance between the young attractive characters could also suggest this is more akin to the likes of The Host and Divergent than Mad Max or Children of Men. Young Ones is an 2014 American action science fiction film directed and written by Jake Paltrow. Set in the future when water is hard to find, a teenage boy sets out to protect his family and survive. The film stars Nicholas Hoult, Elle Fanning, Michael Shannon and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

I think I'm going to withdraw judgement until we've seen more from this project, which is actually helmed by Gwyneth Paltrow's younger brother. How about that?

What do you think?
