An adaptation of Joan G. Robinson’s children’s novel, [When Marnie Was There](movie:1687756) has been produced by Studio Ghibli's Adaptation and it looks stunning.

Check out the trailer below:

Joan G. Robinson's novel tells the story of a young girl called Anna. She gets adopted by an older couple and moves to the coast to live with them. Upon arrival she meets another young girl, Marnie, who lives in a large mysterious mansion known as 'The Marsh House'. Marnie becomes Anna's first ever friend and after they spend some time together Marnie suddenly disappears. When the new family, the Lindsays, move into the Marsh house Anna becomes friends with this new family and they eventually tell her some secrets about Marnie that she would've never thought true.

Anything Studio Ghibli is usually good in my opinion. Their classic storytelling is what makes the pieces so good. They all obey to the rules of 'the hero's journey' and this, I think, is what makes the Ghibli material feel automatically classic.

I'm very much looking forward to this one.
