Big news for fans of classic cartoons! DreamWorks Animation, home to Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek, has acquired one of the most iconic characters in cartoon history: Felix the Cat.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, DreamWorks Animation CEO, recently announced the deal at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo - and his words in support of Felix's historic status should reassure fans that there's every chance of seeing him on screen soon:

"Felix really goes beyond evergreen status and rises to something even more uncommon, as he is a true icon"

The only question now is what form will we see Felix in? The character, who originally rose to fame back in the 1920's, found further success with a 1960's TV series. Will we see a return to television for Felix, or a big-budget animated movie aimed at opening up the character to the widest audience possible? Alternatively, could he be one of the first big names to be part of DreamWorksTV, their new online venture?

Hopefully we'll know more soon...
