We're all patiently waiting for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice to hit theaters in May 2016. The idea that Batman will share the big screen with Superman is too much of a big draw for any comic book fan or the general public. Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are positioning the film to one of the biggest of all-time. So a movie with this kind of star power on the side of good, there has to be that same kind of allure for the bad guys as well. After all, a movie is only as memorable if the villain is someone we can all love to hate.

While it's clear that we're going to get Batman and Superman on the good side (with cameos and supporting roles from Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg), it's only a matter of time before we hear who the villains of [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870) will be. At the moment, we only have one villain officially cast in the superhero film and that's Jesse Eisenberg, who will play Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor, but it’s also rumored that we might get another villain to match Luthor's brain with brawn.

According to Bleeding Cool, Doomsday might be in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Apparently, designs of the character are being worked on for the film, which led Bleeding Cool's sources to believe that the Ancient Kryptonian will turn up. From Bleeding Cool:

"...sources who have been rather reliable in the past have told us that they have seen Batman V Superman designs for the character of Doomsday."

If you're unaware, Doomsday killed Superman in "The Death of Superman" story line in the early 1990s. Of course, this leads anyone to think: will Superman die at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice?

It would be very bold if Superman dies in the new movie. Everything we've heard from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice points to a very bold production (from its casting to an unwieldy title), so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see the Man of Steel die at the end of the movie. Considering the nature of big blockbuster moviemaking today, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has to end on a down note to get an audience from one movie to the next. There's no way this movie will end in an optimistic way. There has to be a reason why the [Justice League](movie:401267) will be assemble for the next movie, so it stands to reason that perhaps Superman might die. If Zack Snyder wants to introduce a character like Doomsday (with the villain's reputation), it almost confirms Superman's death.

I can easily see a situation where the world is in balance because of Superman's death and it forces the other superheroes to come together to fight a new threat in the Justice League movie, which is rumored for release in 2017. I can also see Superman coming back to life in said Justice League movie to set up the ground work for the DC Cinematic Universe and the Man of Steel sequel.

Of course, this day and age of superhero movies and blockbusters, no characters can truly die off. If Superman "dies" at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, everyone knows he won't be really dead. Superman will comeback in the next film or later in this film. I mean, nobody really believed that Nick Fury actually died in [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973), or Agent Coulson in The Avengers, or Captain Kirk in Star Trek Into Darkness. None of these character actually die. They'll comeback sooner or later. Imagine, Warner Bros and DC really killing off Superman. That means there would be no more Superman in the Justice League movie or Man of Steel sequel. The movie studio would have to reboot the film franchise again to really pull this off. Hell, Batman didn't actually die at the end of The Dark Knight Rises either. He can back to nod and wink to the audience for one final curtain call.

Overall, considering how many superheroes are in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it also stands to reason that there be a glut of villains too. Will Doomsday be one of them?
