The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies might still be months away - but that hasn't stopped the 'awesome behind-the-scenes Hobbit stuff' train one bit.

The latest bundle of geeky goodness comes fresh from Japan, and what seems to be a making of DVD/Blu Ray bundle about to be released there. Four behind-the-scenes featurettes from the release have been leaked, each one focusing on a different aspect of the series.

Let's take a look:

Beorn:

Featuring wood chopping, horse-hair, bear-form background and what looks a lot like part of a deleted scene...

Lake-town:

Featuring 'a Dickensian slum', a closer look at Bard, The Master and and Alfrid's motivations, and a cheeky bit of bonus Bilbo...

You can check it out (off site) here

Wargs:

Featuring hyena-criticising Peter Jackson, the merits of wolves, and general Warg-development excitement...

Spiders:

Featuring the stuff of Peter Jackson's nightmares, and other assorted arachnid terrors...

All of which adds up to a really terrific pile of Tolkien-nerding out fodder - and might just make the wait until December that little bit easier.

[The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies](movie:512312) is set for release on December 17, 2014.
