Before I make my casting, I know that Henry Cavill is Superman, Ben Affleck is Batman, Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, and Jason Momoa is Aquaman. But these are who I would cast if I had free range to cast whoever I want.
Since there are so many members in the Justice League, I'm going to focus on the magnificent seven (the characters in the poster above). They are the most popular, most likely, and frankly, the characters I want to see in the film.
While I have nothing against CGI, I prefer pratical effects. So that's going to influence my casting choices. From Martian Manhunter's green skin to Green Lantern's costume.
No comic book film is complete without a villain. So here are my choices for a Justice League franchise.
Starro the Conquerer (Justice League)
I know most of you want to see Darkseid as the villain of the first Justice League movie. Which is fine if they don't want to make sequels. Since you have to go bigger in sequels. Which is impossible if Darkseid is the villain.
Starro the Conquerer holds a special place in DC history. For he was the first villain the Justice League ever faced in history. Which is why I feel DC should follow the Avengers in making the first villain of the comics, the first villain in the movies.
However, their isn't much to character. So it lend itself to developing the characters and the team.
Brainiac (Justice League 2)
Being much more intelligent and posses highly advanced technology, Brainiac would present more of a threat and challenge than Starro the Conquerer.
We need an actor who deliver sci-fi techno babble and make it sound smooth and like he knows what he's talking about. But also remain cold, calculated, logical, and unsimpathetic.
You know who'd be perfect for this role?
From his role as Spock in both of J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" movies, we know that he deliver all kinds of sci-fi techno babble. While remaining cool and elegant. At the same time being cold and distant from others.
Darkseid (Justice League 3)
You all saw this coming. Like I said, if they want to make one Justice League film, Darkseid is the perfect choice for a villain. But if they make more, he should be saved for the final one. Since Darkseid is the epitome of evil. More powerful than other other villain in the DC universe. Which would be impossible to top in a sequel.
So the actor who could bring the most evil and powerful character in all of DC to life is:
Perlman is one of the greatest character actors ever! But he has also clocked in so many hours in heavy makeup. Which, as I stated, I prefer over CGI crap. But he also has plenty of experience playing a DC villain. With his role as Deathstroke (that was his villain name in the comics) in the Teen Titans comic.
He would bring that cool regal demeanor appropriate for the character.
Now onto the heroes.
Fighting evil for over 400 years, J'onn J'onzz is the reserved member of the group. Mentoring the team. So the actor who plays him has to be very sophisticated when needed. But can go from sophisticated to bad ass in the blink of an eye. Which is why I feel the best actor to play him is:
One of the greatest physical character actors ever! He is to practical effects, as Andy Serkis is to motion capture.
We know he can be very sophiscated from his role as Abe Sapien in the Hellboy films.
But he can also play a badass from his role as the Silver Surfer.
So lets move to the king of the sea.
Now Aquaman has gotten a bad rap. But he is really an awesome character. For a few examples why, watch the following video.
Anyway, Arthur Curry is the king of the seven seas. Warrior by heart. Who would stab you in face with his trident if you look at him funny.
Being from an under water city, Aquaman is an outsider on dry land. Not knowing customs or other current things.
So the perfect actor to play him is:
There's a quality to Hugo where you would buy him as an elf king or an anarchy superhero. Also possessing an awesome voice.
He is also very typecasted as villains. Except say V from "V for Vendetta". Which is why I think he would relish the opportunity to play a popular superhero.
Now don't blink. Cause here comes the fastest man alive.
The Flash (Wally West)
I feel that Wally West would be the best option for the Justice League movie. For his lack of knowledge would be the perfect excuse for characters to have to explain important information or dumb it down. But Barry could be the main focus of a standalone Flash movie (preferably the one before the Justice League movie to help with Wally's origin).
Wally West was the sidekick of the original Flash, Barry Allen. Who died during the "Crisis on Infinite Earths". He is normally portrayed as the lovable goofball. So if they decide to go that way, it would also bring a sense of comedy to this film. Like Tony Stark or Michelangelo. But they can also go with the new Flash who is eager to prove himself as the new Flash.
Either way, I still choose:
Theres a rumor going around that Matt Damon is going to be in the Justice League movie because of Ben Affleck being Batman. But as Aquaman (now dis proven) or Martian Manhunter. I hope that the producer considers him as the part of the Flash. Since it would be funny because of how opposite Batman and the Flash are, and Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's friendship.
Matt has proven himself as comedic actor with his involvement in Kevin Smith movies with Ben Affleck. But he can also be very serious thanks to "Good Will Hunting".
Both John Stewart and Hal Jordan in today's age have a chance to be the Green Lantern in the Justice League. So I'm casting both.
John Stewart was the replacement lantern in case the current lantern failed. He is a no no nonsense Marine. Who doesn't take shit from anybody.
So my choice is:
Michael has plenty of experience working on comic book films. Both good (The Dark Knight) and bad (Spawn). Kicking major ass and rarely taking lip from anyone. Looking like a hero even without a costume.
He is even a fan of john Stewart. Even trying to get the part of John Stewart in "Justice League: Heroes" the video game. So I feel like he is the best choice and deserves it.
Hal Jordan is the lovable scally wag of the team. He would turn down a plan at a moments notice if it sounded dumb or impracticable. But be the first to jump into a situation. Because he knows no fear. The cool uncle your dad doesn't want you hanging out with.
Who better to play him than:
Nathan always has a smirk on his face like he has an ace under his sleeve. Plus, check out this fan made trailer:
Better than the actual film (even though the film had its moments).
HOWEVER...Nathan Fillion has come out to admit that he will not play Hal Jordan OR Ant-Man (but it would be awesome if he did).
So my backup choice is:
Take the charm of Face from the A-Team reboot.
Throw in the comedy and attitude of Rocket Raccoon.
Hal Jordan is born.
Now it's time for the DC Trinity!
Wonder Woman may have had a rocky start. But she eventually became one of the greatest female icon ever. Who deserves a movie more than any other character. Born of the Earth. Baptized in combat.
Now, I don't know much about Gal Gadot. So it would be unfair to judge her as Wonder Woman.
But I will standby my my casting choice for the Amazing Amazon:
If the role of Sif showed us anything, it was that Jamie Alexandar can play a warrior, someone from out of this world, and a strong female character.
Frankly, Wonder Woman would be a walk in the park for Jamie.
The next member, needs no introduction.
Batman has had more movies than any other comic book character ever (8 films)! We all know the three parts an actor has to be able to do to be Batman. The detective, the fake Bruce Wayne that the public believes in, and the dark bruiting knight.
While I feel that Ben Affleck can portray the fake Bruce Wayne perfectly, that's as much as I can say. But he is an academy award winning actor. So I'm going to give him a chance.
The actor I want to see bring those characters to life on screen is:
1.The detective/dark bruting knight
2. The fake Bruce Wayne the public believes in
Finally, the hero that all comic books possible.
Superman was the first comic book character ever created. He continues to be one of the greatest. Not for his powers. But for what he stands for. Truth, justice, and the American dream. Plus his code. To never kill anyone. For he cherishes life. Even the ones of his enemies.
My feelings of Henry Cavill playing Superman are bad. He was so bland and boring, I could fall asleep. Also because of how he killed General Zod. Even though he had dozens of other options.
Which is why I wish they casted:
I can just hear lots of you saying that he should play Batman. That would a good casting choice. But I feel that Josh Brolin is a better choice.
Karl has plenty of awesome roles from Star Trek, Dredd, Riddick, Doom (the film was no that good, but he was), and Lord of the Rings. So we know that he can kick major ass. But he is also charismatic enough to mustard the courage and confidence of the Man of Steel.
What do you guys of my casting choices? Who do you guys want to see in a Justice League movie, and who do you want to play them? Leave all answers in the comments.
