Chris Pratt, soon to be of [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) fame, didn't have an easy run. Earlier in his career he was auditioning for leading man roles without much success. He eventually resigned himself to playing various character roles in television from the The O.C. to [Parks and Recreation](series:214218) and Everwood.
Here's a little of Pratt's O.C. time below:
Around the late 2000s, when he had finished his stint on The O.C. and when projects like Jennifer's Body were being passed his way, he auditioned for the role of Captain Kirk for 2009s Star Trek:
And in the same year auditioned for the role of Avatar's Jake Sully:
Both of which he was turned down for.
He spoke a little on the Avatar audition recently saying:
They said they want somebody that says 'that thing,' that 'It factor'... I walked into that room knowing I did not have that thing, and I walked out thinking I would never have that thing, probably.
As time went on he began taking more character actor parts in movies like Five Year Engagement, [Zero Dark Thirty](movie:332744) and recently [Delivery Man](movie:393013).
Check him out singing in The Five Year Engagement, it's hard to believe I know:
Pratt recently led[The LEGO Movie](movie:376368)as everyman Emmet Brickowoski, which marked his very first box office leading character:
If you haven't been sleeping under a pile of coats you'll also know that he's now leading the upcoming [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073). Pratt plays Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord, who steps up to help save the galaxy with his motley crew of outcasts when there is no hope anywhere else.
But what if he had been cast in these roles. The world would be a very different place... well two films would be (three if you count Into Darkness).
Check out this alternate Chris Pratt universe below:
Weird. But I personally think Guardians is gonna be a lot more badass than Avatar a.k.a. Dances with Smurfs.
But there you have it. Out of these two which would you most like to have seen?
Pratt as Kirk or Jake Sully?
