Things have been pretty quiet over on the Star Wars Episode VII set of late - that whole 'Harrison Ford's leg' deal aside. In the absence of any concrete news, one of the recurring rumors doing the rounds has been that Andy Serkis, who was recently confirmed to be taking a part in the movie, would be playing a certain Gungan...

Which, he insists, is a very, very long way from the truth. Speaking to TheDailyBeast.com, Serkis was asked straight out whether he's set to play one of the most widely hated characters of all time. His answer?

"I am definitely NOT playing anything like Jar Jar Binks! That I can confirm."

Which, in fairness, is a relief - if not a huge surprise.

It's not as though J.J. Abrams would ever consider bringing back something as ridiculous as Jar Jar from an older version of the series, is it?

[Star Wars: Episode VII](movie:711158) is set for release December 18, 2015. Hopefully without Jar Jar.
