Coming from a guy that has been playing video games since the SNES(Super Nintendo Entertainment System) Video Games: The Movie is a fresh take on the history of video games. That being said the film as a whole is riddled with flaws that hold it back from being great. The approach taken was a risk all on its own. Deciding to venture into the entire history of video games through a timeline instead of following the industry’s journey through a specific path made it a film that if you are not at all interested in the medium, than this will not keep your attention for too long.

It clearly has two target audiences in mind, the first is for the hardcore gamers who will appreciate the history told in film, much of which may be with statistics that they already know. The second target audience is for those who are less familiar or educated with the history and making of the industry so many of them use every day.
