Another bestselling book adaptation is making its way to our small screens.

We have just been given the trailer for the upcoming [Outlander](series:1001496).

This one features the new score from big time composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Gallactica, The Walking Dead).

Check it out below:

Check out the synopsis below:

The above preview focuses on Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a British WWII combat nurse who's on vacation with her husband when she visits a mysterious rock formation and finds herself thrown back through time to the 18th century. As the preview indicates, Claire's something of a mystery to the people she encounters in the past. That includes the suspicious Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish), the curious Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) and the gallant warrior to whom Claire is forced to marry, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). We see Jamie telling Claire she has a nice touch, and later he seems unconcerned with where she comes from, only that she's here now.

I'd imagine when they pitched it, it went something like this.

Did you like Life on Mars?

Well it's like that, except set in period Scotland.

Okay, here's lot's of money.

The reasons for why the stone has sent Laoghaire back is, as yet, quite ambiguous but I'm sure as the series goes on the reason will present itself. Could be some sort of bloodline story or it could just be random selection.

Looks very well shot and I'd expect if it's a popular adaptation, it will do quite well.

Are you gonna be checking this out?
