Speaking with Total Film about his new movie Hercules, the inevitable question could NOT be held on the tip of the tongue any longer. What character are you singed up to play for DC? While he tries his hardest to dodge the obvious answer to the question, he plays with it and drops a HUGE hint:

The Rock has never been shy dropping little tidbits here and there, and is VERY active on twitter. A few months back this is what he had to tweet:

If you watched the video (and I hope you did you lazy bums! lol) then you have to pay attention to the very end of the clip:

Just say this, he has the power of Superman...And it's not Green Lantern by the way [...] and believe me John Stewart, he's the charachter I wanted to play, but there was already a version of Green Lantern so now we've gone into a different direction. But this character has the power of Superman ,he can throw down, umm....(very long pause)...just say the word is all I'm gonna say

While some might take the end phrase, "Just say the word," to mean just let me come out with it, you might be wrong. "The Word" he is referring to is "SHAZAM!"

If you are unfamiliar with the character, Shazam aka Captain Marvel, is a superhero and member of the Justice League. He has been portrayed in many ways, but my favorite was this year's Justice League: War.

Captain Marvel is the World's Mightiest Mortal. Originally, he was a orphaned boy named Billy Batson, who was chosen by the wizard Shazam to be a champion of good. Shazam gifted Billy with the power of six legendary Greek figures, and when he spoke the Wizard's name, he became an adult superhero empowered by six legendary Greek figures.[...]Today, Captain Marvel remains as one of the world's greatest heroes. - DC Wiki

Shazam is an acronym which means:

S - The wisdom of Solomon

H - The strength of Hercules

A - The stamina of Atlas

Z - The power of Zeus

A - The courage of Achilles

M - The speed of Mercury

Could The Rock be being coy about his new DC role? The announcement will be made soon and with Comic-Con in high gear this week, you can bet DC has that card up their sleeve and it's my speculation that it will be confirmed. If Dwayne Johnson is to be Shazam, I think it would be a HUGE boost to DC. The Rock is damn near awesome in every movie role he plays and his inclusion would be a huge plus!

Do you think he is the perfect fit for the role?
