The secret is out! Details for the storyline for [The Overlook Hotel](movie:504506) have also been revealed, and the prequel film will be based on Stephen King’s original prologue to “The Shining,” which was cut from the book prior to publication in 1977.

SO, what did we miss out on?

The origin story of the Overlook Hotel told through the eyes of its first owner, Bob T. Watson. A robber baron at the turn of the 20th century, Watson scaled the remote peaks of the Colorado Rockies to build the grandest resort in America, and a place he and his family would also call home

Mark Romanek, whose credits include a LOT of music documentaries, as well as an underrated horror film called One Hour Photo which features a totally creepy Robin Williams and makes you glad that digital photography is so popular, is in negotiations with Warner Bros to make this buzz a reality.

Former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara is penning the screenplay, and I know that MY fingers are crossed that this project will receive Stephen King's blessing as well.

Warner Brothers is also rumored to be in talks with Stephen King to get the rights to his 2013 novel “Dr. Sleep,” which follows an adult Danny Torrance on his troubled path, turning The Shining into a tidy little trilogy.

I don't know about YOU, but I'm excited to play forever on that amazing carpet.

How do YOU feel about this new development? Do we NEED a prequel to The Shining?
