If you're old enough to remember the original splendour of Vanilla Ice's rap in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, you will still hold the best dance scene in cinematic history close to your neon, '90s heart!

Although nothing will be able to touch the spectacle of four rubbery turtles break-dancing to a bloke with a dimante shirt collar rapping about 'the new jack groove', Juicy J, Whiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign have given it a go. Bless 'em.

But, before we listen to the brand spanking new instalment in the TMNT rap tradition - let's take some time to honor the heroes that paved the way.

Take it away, Vanilla Ice!

There are many things about this scene that make it a surreal '90s WTF fest, but you can't deny the irrepressible urge to fist-pump and shout your way through the rousing, and touching chorus of "go ninja, go ninja, GO".

Vanilla Ice might have dance moves like someone being jabbed repeatedly with a cattle prod, but there is method to his madness.

Without his hypnotic white trousers jigging the permed, dungaree-wearing crowd into a frenzy, there is no way the turtles could have defeated those pesky villains unhindered.

A true action hero comes in many guises.

Best Lyric:

  • Rockin' the crowd, the way it should be rocked with the Miami drop that you like a lot.

But, all good things have to come to an end (I miss you too, cycling shorts!) so let's brush the past aside by blasting our ear drums with the fresh new turtle beats.

Presenting, Shell Shocked!

Props to the new kids on the block for keeping things cheesy. These lyrics do our heroes in a half-shell proud;

You know I got your back, just like a turtle shell
Nobody do it better, all my brothers tryna get some cheddar
We all want our cut like the Shredder

But, the jury's out, which of these TMNT tracks do you prefer?
