Well, this week has definitely turned our hopes completely around for an Iron Man 4. While we were expecting for Iron Man's franchise to end as a trilogy due to Robert Downey Jr.'s contract ready to expire, it seems that Iron Man 4 is actually looking more and more likely according to both Kevin Feige and RDJ himself. When asked if he wants to star in [Iron Man 4](movie:886190), Robert Downey Jr. gave somewhat of an intriguing answer,. Listen to this:
It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.
So what it sounds like is that he's been open to offers, but he still has the right to accept of deny those offers. Sound kind of like he's soliciting another raise. As if he wasn't already the highest paid cast member of the Avengers film. However, when you consider that Iron Man 3 is one of the only movies ever to make more than one billion in box office and RDJ was put atop Forbes' list of highest paid actors in the world, I would say he's suggesting that he is willing to agree to something. Or already has.
Upon talking about the progress of [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035), Robby seemed very optimistic:
“Right now, this has just been swell, hasn’t it? This has been a really good one and it feels good and we’re having a good time.”
He continues by saying:
It’s that thing of: why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed? Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out. The future is, as usual, uncertain.
Could we actually be getting an announcement for Iron Man 4 this week at Comic-Con? It looks like the optimists could be winning this one! Follow @MoviePilotNews and @ReidJones5 on twitter for all the news as it breaks this week!
