We recently heard the exciting news that Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim would officially be receiving a sequel.
Talk of [Pacific Rim 2](movie:775756) had begun before the first film even arrived in theaters, but it wasn't until last month that the Warner Bros. execs finally agreed to greenlight the production.
Of course, this news also opened the floodgates for Pacific Rim fans to bombard del Toro with questions about the sequel. In an interview in the run up to the San Diego Comic-Con, the director answered a question about whether we would be taking a trip to the Kaiju world in Pacific Rim 2. He replied:
I will not answer that. I take the Fifth. You’re asking the right questions but not necessarily the way you think. If you think are we invading their world, we’re not, but we’re showing more of that world.
At several points in Pacific Rim we did an extremely limited glimpse at the Kaiju homeworld, which looked, to be honest, pretty damn mental. It's certainly something which could make the sequel standout from the original.
