So, are we ever going to see another Iron Man standalone film? Marvel says someday. If that is the case, will the next solo outing for 'Ol Shell Head star Robert Downey Jr. in the title role? We don't know at this point, everyone involved seems to be playing their cards close to the chest right now.
And is Robert Downey Jr. even interested in returning? Well, it seems as though EW may have finally gotten an answer.
“It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is," he said during an interview on the set of Age of Ultron, "and that’s on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.”
“Right now, this has just been swell, hasn’t it?”
the actor said during a break in filming on the hugely anticipated Avengers sequel.
“This has been a really good one and it feels good and we’re having a good time.”
Downey finished off his interview with EW by saying:
"Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” He also remarked, with a grin: “The future is, as usual, uncertain.”
Okay, so he doesn't say Yes and he doesn't say No per-se, but if you ask us, we wouldn't be surprised in the least if RDJ dawned the red and gold armor in a fourth Iron Man film.
