With Sony handling the 'Spider-Man' franchise, first with Sam Raimi (the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as the lead) and now with Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man series starring Andrew Garfield as the lead), it is safe to say that their plans of expanding their franchise is now fully in action. A 'Sinister Six' spin-off is set for 2016, while The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is pushed to 2018.

As for the 'Spider-Man' sequels, the third installment was set for 2016 while the fourth was set for 2018. But instead, Sony has decided for an 'Uncharted' movie, based on the Sony Playstation game, while pushing the third installment to 2018.

Columbia Pictures, the production house responsible for the Spider-Man flicks, announced its updated schedule for the franchise today. Alongside 'Sinister Six', another super-villain spin-off, 'Venom', has also been announced, although no official date has been set. With this being said, the studio plans on expanding their franchise with Marvel super-villains while pushing the Spider-Man sequels to later years.

'Sinister Six' is set to be directed by Drew Goddard, while no official data has been released on the 'Venom' spin-off yet.
