For some time, fans have been wondering whether or not, the popular DC TV Show, 'Arrow', will cross paths with the DC Cinematic Universe. Is DC going to do what MARVEL has done and share the movie universe with their TV universe or are they going to keep them separate?
Chief creative officer over at Warner Bros/DC, Geoff Johns announced this:
"It's a separate universe than film. So that the filmmakers can tell the story that's best for film while we explore something different in a different corner of the DC universe. We will not be integrating the film and television universes."
This has been a topic that has been discussed over and over between fans and personally I am extremely happy that this won't be happening. For a long time I have been telling other fans that it would be stupid to do this, because it limits the story telling of the movies and the TV because they have to mesh properly and keep up with each other.
In my opinion, MARVEL's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D is a terrible TV show. (I know a lot of people like it but this is my opinion.) I think it fails because it is trying to keep up with the film universe and its making the story messy on the show. This is why I'm glad DC is keeping its TV and Film separate. Because Arrow is a surprisingly really good show and for it to be tied down by the movies would be unfortunate.
Film and TV are two very different mediums. A story is usually told in around 2 hours in a film but with TV, the story is spread over a season of around 12-20 episodes so the development of story and character is very different and that's what I think a lot of fans are forgetting.
Stephen Amell is fantastic as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and I love him on the show. I'm a big fan as well and I'd love for him to play Green Arrow in the movies but then that would get confusing for a lot of people.
I think its great that the universes are being kept separate but what do you guys think? This is a obviously a very controversial topic so go ahead and rant in the comments guys! Thanks for reading!
