Jim Starlin, a Marvel legend and creator of the villain, Thanos, went to the premiere of GotG and has insisted that James Gunn's sci-fi adventure is the studio's best effort to date

[via ComicBook.com] Starlin took to social media

"Just came from the premiere of 'Guardians Of The Galaxy.' With all the hype I expected to be a bit disappointed. It just couldn't be as good as everyone was predicting. And they were wrong. It's even better than everyone said. It just might be Marvel's best movie yet."

Starlin, who wasn't pleased in the past with Marvel after they failed to invite him to a pre-screening of '[The Avengers](movie:9040)' or let him know that Thanos would appear in the post-credits.

When James Gunn saw this on Yahoo he went to his FB page to post this

"This just about made me cry. Holy cow. Jim Starlin is a true hero and the real foundation of Marvel Cosmic. Wow."
