What's your favorite scary movie? If it's Scream, you'll be happy to hear what Kevin Williamson (writer of Scream 1, 2, and 4) had to say to the 'Cinifilles' team, following a panel for his new TV show 'Stalker' at the 2014 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour on Thursday.
From what we heard, it sounds like there are definitely some plans kicking around for a ' [Scream 5](movie:731996) and Scream 6'. Here's what Kevin commented:
“It’s weird, when I pitched Scream 4, I pitched Scream 4, 5 and 6. I pitched a whole new trilogy. I guess Scream 4 never took off in a way they hoped, and so…”
Williamson then went on to say that he is no longer personally involved with the series, and that Wes Craven and his team are "done with him"
"It’s all here [pointing to his head] and my computer … if they wanna buy it from me!”
It's quite possible that Wes Craven and his crew might want to do just that, if the Scream MTV show (which Williamson is not a part of) currently in the making is successful.
So the possibility is definitely there - it's just a shame that Wes and Kevin have fallen out on quite a big scale, potentially making any deals between them quite difficult. So far we've seen a tv adaptation of Psycho, Red Dragon, The Walking Dead and many more, so do you think adapting the Scream Franchise could work?
Or do you hope that the franchise stays as it is, because making a part 5 and 6 would quite possibly be overkill, repeating the same ideas? I know that I really was not a fan of Scream 4, but I did like the first three, so you never know what could happen in a part five. Would they finally kill Sidney off, or would she live to fight another day?
I guess with the Scream movies you either love em or hate em - depends on whether you're a fan of the cheesy teen slasher flicks or not. Anyway! Are you interested in seeing another two additions to the franchise, or do you think they should definitely stop at four?
