Quentin Tarantino has a thing for the Old West and it's made for some exciting news for his fans the past week.
First, it was leaked that Tarantino has finally decided to move forward with his forever on-again/off-again project [The Hateful Eight](movie:1216087), after a reading of a rough draft of the script by such Tarantino regulars as Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, James Parks, Dana Gourrier and Zoe Bell, it's fair to assume that Quentin has folks in mind for certain parts; and no doubt they'll do it.
The Hateful Eight is anticipated to be a harsher Western than [Django Unchained](movie:202587).
Speaking of which...
Dynamite Entertainment has announced Tarantino will share plotting duties with comic book superstar Matt Wagner to bring a "Django/Zorro" team-up to life on the printed page. The book will not only bring the two iconic characters together, but is officially considered a sequel to "Django Unchained".
Tarantino will be part of the panel that will announce the project to the world next week during San Diego Comic-Con and he is thrilled about the project.
""I'm very, very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt. It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together", said Tarantino in a press release. "The story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think it will be an exciting new chapter for both characters."
At San Diego Comic-Con, Tarantino said "Django" star Jamie Foxx was so excited at the prospect of the historic crossover that he would like it to be a film!
"I bumped into him a few months ago and he thought it was a fantastic idea", Tarantino said of Fox. "He was like: "Can we make a movie of this? I'm their man. Let's get Antonio (Banderas). Let's do this!"
