Deadline is reporting that the USA Network green lit an alien invasion series pilot Carlton Cuse (Lost, [Bates Motel](series:753920)) and Hercules co-writer Ryan Condal. The series with a working title of Colony will be Legendary Television's first scripted pilot.

Slated for production since May, Colony will start to take shape in the coming months, and from the description, it sounds a bit like District 9, and a bit like V...both good things as far as I'm concerned.

A naturalistic drama set in the near future in Los Angeles, which exists in a state of occupation by a force of alien intruders. Some collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order, while others rebel and suffer the consequences. The project centers on a family torn by opposing forces and making difficult choices as they balance staying together with surviving the struggle of the human race.

With the success of [Falling Skies](series:755885), and the overwhelming amount of (really GOOD) Sci-Fi hitting theatres in 2014, it looks like USA Network is keen to cash in on some of the renewed interest in Sci-Fi. I'm fairly interested to see how this develops, so I'll be keeping an eye out for news, casting and other tidbits just for YOU!
