Since the release of Ransom Riggs's Young Adult novel, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Tim Burton made it known that he was interested in adapting the book for the screen. While many of his recent projects have been less than stellar, this novel about teenage boy who is transported to an island where he must help protect orphaned children with special powers, seems tailor-made for the Burton-esque aesthetic. Now, in an inspired bit of casting, it seems the Home for Peculiar Children has found its Miss Peregrine, and the choice couldn't be more perfect!

According to Variety, actress Eva Green (300: Rise of an Empire, Penny Dreadful) is in negotiations to star as Miss Peregrine. As the woman who runs a less fancy version of what is essentially Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Green couldn't be a more perfect choice. Additionally, she and Burton have worked together before on his adaptation of Dark Shadows, so it makes sense that she would be brought in for this project as well.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was a hit upon its release because of its unusual structure: the book was based on/interspersed throughout with pictures of oddities and apparent supernatural phenomenon from Riggs's personal collection. The sequel, Hollow City, was just released at the beginning of the summer. You can get a peek at some of the pictures from Miss Peregrine below!

Do you think Eva Green is the right choice to play Miss Peregrine? What about Tim Burton as a director? Let me know in the comments section!
