Well really, he's too cool for Heaven, and I'm pretty sure the Devil couldn't handle all that Groovy Bruce sass.
Gene Fallaize is gearing up to shoot the film at Pinewood Studios in London, working from a script by Marcus Ako and Tony Cook - both very new to the movie game with a few short film credits to their IMDb listings, which isn't a BAD thing per se. Danny Trejo is also rumored to be a part of the fun, and I personally think he'd make a kickass Satan.
The story (edited just a tiny bit for my own amusement): Three new arrivals to Purgatory (which is probably pretty easy to end up in, because really, Heaven must be pretty exclusive, and Hell probably won't just let ANYONE in these days) who must find their way around the afterlife with the help of their guardian, St. Paul - this is kind of sounding like a Dante's Inferno situation, but I could be wrong...but I'm not usually wrong. Unfortunately for our heroes (aside from being dead and in Purgatory), the gates separating heaven and hell have been broken, leaving the world of angels and demons in ruins - like what happens when you have a house party, and someone invites the whole school. Soon, our heroes are tasked with putting things right and preventing all out celestial war - angels vs demons - and destroying everything.
There's no word yet on Groovy Bruce's role, but I'm going to call it NOW that he's a wise-cracking, cynical St. Paul.
Welcome to Purgatory is slated for release in 2015, and according to IMDb, a sequel is also already in the works...
It looks like we're going to be seeing a LOT more Bruce in the coming years with his involvement in the [Evil Dead TV Show](series:2145896) and other film announcements...but honestly, can there ever be TOO much Bruce Campbell?
