It has been announced that Jamie Foxx will be playing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a biopic of his life.

It's unclear yet exactly what aspects or time periods of Tyson's life the film will follow. However, Tyson in a recent interview said that the filmmakers will be using the same technology used in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This would imply that Foxx will be playing Tyson at vastly varying ages.

On numerous occasions Jamie Foxx has played the boxer Karl "The Tooth" Williams on SNL but on one occasion he includes a lisp in the character, something that's perhaps Tyson's most distinctive mannerism. Foxx was obviously having a bit of fun with Tyson.

Here's a list of what I think could be the important Tyson events for the Biopic:

1986 - Tyson knocks out Trevor Berbick in the second round, winning the WBC heavyweight title to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history at age 20.

1990 - After a series of stunning battles defending his title Tyson is knocked out by James "Buster" Douglas in the 10th round and loses his world heavyweight title.

1991 - Tyson meets Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America contestant, at a pageant rehearsal. They go to the boxer's hotel room in the early morning hours. She later presses rape charges on him.

1992 - Tyson is found guilty on one count of rape and two counts of deviate sexual conduct.

1995 - Tyson is released from the Indiana Youth Center near Plainfield, Indiana. Begins comeback with 89 seconds victory over Peter McNeeley in Las Vegas.

1996/97 - Tyson gets the Evander Holyfield rematch disqualified in the third after he bites Holyfield twice, once on each ear. Tyson's boxing license is revoked and he is fined him $3 million for biting Holyfield.

1998 - Tyson sentenced to two concurrent two-year sentences for assaulting two motorists after a traffic accident. Judge Stephen Johnson suspended all but one year of jail time. Tyson was also fined $5,000 and sentenced to two years' probation after his release from jail.

2005 - Tyson fails to come out for the seventh round against Kevin McBride in Washington, D.C.. After the fight, Tyson says "I don't have the stomach for this anymore. I most likely won't fight anymore. I'm not going to disrespect the sport by losing to this caliber of fighter".

Though Jamie Foxx has not played a real-life sports person before, he has done the biopic; Ray, for which he won an Oscar.

After a bit of looking today I managed to find Foxx doing a bit of a Tyson in his stand up.
