Who knew the Star-Lord himself would be so refreshingly down to earth!

Chris Pratt lit up a room with over 250 overexcited grins when he surprised kids at an advanced screening of [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) in New York on Monday night.

The deserving children and their families were all given the chance to watch the superheroes-in-space flick early thanks to a charity drive by Variety the Children's Charity of New York and Children of Promise.

After beaming down to sector, Pratt was visibly moved by the enthusiasm of his young audience and took the time to pose for selfies with every single child and young person in the audience.

After taking time to meet with every individual in the fandom, Pratt expressed how talking to the real people who made him the superstar he is today is what matters to him the most. He told interviewers;

That was really fun, this is what is all about. I get impatient sometimes being on a promotional tour all the time, but something like this I would sit here as long as it took to take a picture with every one of those guys. Tonight was really special to me

Pratt stayed until long after security was scheduled to whisk him away, and left with some touching words of encouragement from the heart. He told the audience of children, many of whom are underprivileged that;

Take it from a kid who came from no money. If you stick to your path, you can be your own Star-Lord

What a legend.
