Guardians of the Galaxy has taken over everyone's movie obsessions with good reason. It has it all. Action, aliens, warriors, humor, and the ultimate heroes. Heroes we can all relate to. Heroes who feel like us. Heroes who are going through a lot of the same motions of life that we all have to face in our day to day, albeit on a bit of a grander scale. It's a movie that has been explained as pure joy to watch, and you won't hear me argue that at all. Our team of intergalactic prisoners turned universal champions are lead by the flawlessly delivered smiles of Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, and in true movie-hero fashion we're going to show you exactly why Chris Pratt is sweeping movie goers alike off of their feet with five very simple and endearing reasons:
5.) He's a really ballsy dude.
During a scene for Parks and Recreation he had to show up to Ann's (Rashida Jones) house naked and assuming that they were going to hook up when Leslie (Amy Poehler) answers the door to a surprise lil' Andy. Chris felt like he wasn't getting the exact reaction he wanted from Amy, so he "goes snake out," in his own great words and actually slips her a full frontal view of his junk. Talk about some method acting!
4.) He's a team player.
Now that he's a major Marvel star there are a few perks to the job... like people writing you into compromising positions. In an interview with Buzzfeed it is brought to his attention that people just love writing stories about how Star-Lord should be hooking up with Captain America, or the arrogantly lovable Tony Stark, and sometimes even both of them at the same time. Chris Pratt's reaction to this, guys? Bring it on. He's totally comfortable in his sexuality and thinks that it's a flawless idea!
3.) He's a great dad.
On top of being the cutest husband in the world (and now other worlds, too), he is madly in love with his young son, Jack. He's obsessed with watching him discover new things, hearing and connecting new things to what he's seeing in front of him. He admits that Jack changed his perspective on his jet-setting lifestyle. Citing how fortunate he is to be an actor on The Ellen Show he goes on to say;
It’s been really amazing. You know Anna (Farris) and I both lead very fortunate lives. We’re both actors. We’ve been able to do really cool things. Meet neat people and go cool places. So there’s not a lot in life that really, and you probably relate to this, there’s not that much left that really excites you. Were you’re like wow. I can’t believe that.And to see a baby get that excited by everything because everything is a first. Everything is a brand new experience. The first time they realize that the sound they’re hearing is the thing that they’re seeing. An experience for them and I’m reliving all the firsts all over again. The first time he recognizes the first laugh or me. Or the first taste of something sweet…we're certainly lucky parents.
Holy huge dose of D'AWWW, Star-Lord! I know, wrong reference, but at this point he's lookin' way cooler than Batman.
4.) He's got a heart of gold.
He recently stole his Star-Lord costume from the [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) set to entertain sickly children that were unfortunately stuck in the hospital.
”If it was a big enough movie, to where it would mean something to a kid who's sick in the hospital — for Peter Quill or Star-Lord to come visit them — I'll do that. I think that's awesome, man. That would give me real meaning for this movie, you know?”
A great role model with a huge heart?! Exactly what a superhero should be, if ya' ask me.
5.) Because he's comfortable with who he is.
No matter his body shape, size, or level of tan; he's completely comfortable being himself and showing himself off for the rest of the world to enjoy in one way or another. Confident, funny, and talented - he's the best friend you wish you always had. He is always willing to laugh at himself, or laugh with you while you do so because he knows that he is nothing more than a very lucky guy with an awesome job. He doesn't take himself too seriously, creating an air of ease and comfort for all who are around him. A superstar that makes you feel like one, too? Count me in!
