It's time to get your tiny violin out to wring out the saddest concerto known to man, because Kate Upton has revealed it was a real trial to grow up so pretty.
The 22-year-old model-turned-actress nearly moved staff at Elle Magazine to tears when she revealed that, when she was just a simple Floridian country gal, being so pretty was an inconvenience.
The [The Other Woman](movie:739914) actress confessed that being a gorgeous child didn't bewitch her siblings into doing her bidding, and was just generally a bit of a pain in the ass. Upton explained that;
Living on a farm, beauty doesn’t get you anywhere. Because I was pretty didn’t mean I could convince my sister to do my chores. It was kind of inconvenient to be pretty, growing up
The former horse riding champion (who knew!) then went on to mourn the simple life that she has left behind and admitted that she would trade in her fame and fortune for a life shoveling dung in a rural backwater. She told interviewers that;
I feel like I’m rich because I love my family and friends. I love my horse and my dog. I would be fine leaving all of this behind and living on a farm somewhere
Of course, when you're in a room with Kate Upton, two topics generally spring to mind, and Kate was happy to confirm her adoration for her ample assets. She revealed that;
I was really excited about becoming a woman. Because I’m from Florida, it’s all about being in bathing suits. It’s a different view of beauty there. You are ugly if you don’t have a curvy body. And I didn't have one, and then I got one, and thought, ‘Yessss!’ And then people say, ‘Oh, wow, you’re healthy.’ And you’re like, ‘Wait – what?’ I've been begging for this body my whole life!
I might jest, but I understand what Upton is saying about beauty being a bit of a stumbling block. People don't expect you to be intelligent or athletic and you are much more likely the be categorized by other parents as prissy or mean, but does anyone really grow up pretty?
Sure, there are plenty of adorable kids out there, but doesn't everyone have a quite lengthy chubby, blotchy, awkward, greasy stage, or was that just me?
Megan Fox knows what I'm talking about...
