Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is just a few days away from release - and while its spent much of its life as a deeply controversial adaptation - largely rooted in the involvement of master of the unnecessary explosion Michael Bay - the buzz coming out of a lot of advance screenings is overwhelmingly positive.

Considering the film's fractious origins, the widespread love for the original cartoons, films and comics, and the presence of the ever-divisive Megan Fox, a lot of us have remained fairly incredulous.

Sometimes, though, one video can change your mind:

It's not that there's anything in the featurette above that's earth-shattering, and it doesn't do a whole lot to dispel fears of the film being very, very silly - but that's sort of the point. The turtles are supposed to be very, very silly - that's where the fun lies.

The only real question then is whether the presence of Michael Bay, Megan Fox and a whole lot of explosions will unbalance an otherwise ridiculous - and therefore most likely great fun - movie.

Megan Fox - not always a good source of balance.
Megan Fox - not always a good source of balance.

The final answer might well not arrive until the film is finally released next week - but in the meantime it's good to see that there will, if nothing else, be some proper, old-school fun mixed in with the Transformers-style modern action.

Just hopefully not with too many fart jokes thrown in.

Who knows - if they get the balance right, we might even see something in the way of a major box office success.

[Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](movie:323027) is set for release August 8, 2014. Otherwise known as next Friday.
