Hot off the heels of the release of Guardians of the Galaxy is my top 10 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. If you haven't seen any of the MMU movies yet, you've been either living under a rock & oblivious to pop culture or you need to go watch them now. Stop reading this & go watch them, seriously... but if you haven't then potential SPOILERS ahead.
10. Iron Man 3 (2013)
I know, I'm gonna heck for this but this movie was poorly made. The infamous plot twist was downright stupid! I came to watch Iron Man go up against The Mandarin, a terrorist with the power of The Ten Rings! Not Iron Man & Iron Patriot hardly lift a finger against two losers who were down on their luck! Also the whole ordeal in Tennessee was completely unnecessary. Shane Black must never direct or even be near the production of another Marvel movie, ever!
9: Thor: The Dark World (2013)
This movie was actually well built and put together except for the villain, Malekith. Oh, you don't know Malekith is? Neither does 99% of people who watched the film. Malekith was the dark elf who was supposedly the bad guy. As always, Loki stole the show leading us to the conclusion, "More Loki, More Money!"
8: The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The Incredible Hulk wasn't too bad at all. It is actually one of the most underrated MMU films of them all. Sure director Louis Leterrier made a mistake casting Edward Norton as The Hulk instead of Mark Ruffalo (who played him in The Avengers), But the film as a whole was pretty good. The action was epic. I only wish Marvel had made that sequel, I wanted to see The Leader!
7: Thor (2011)
Thor was more than a good action film. It shows Thor coming to Earth by banishment and learns humility. Plus we got to see Hawkeye in a blink-and-you-miss-him scene. Agent Coulson also rocked in this film. This film I think contributed the most to The Avengers film as it did introduce us to the villain and a major hero to The Avengers team, as well as Hawkeye & Selvig.
6: Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Don't get me wrong, I loved Captain America's first outing! The poster made it seem like it was going to be a bit darker. The action was stellar, though the final battle was anti-climatic. There wasn't a dry eye in the room when Captain America crashed the plane at the end.
5: Iron Man 2 (2010)
Ok, I'm getting heck for this one too. I personally thought Iron Man 2 was better than #3 and rightfully so. Whiplash wasn't the perfect villain and there script flaws, but the action was incredible! (Don't tell me you didn't think the race car scene wasn't awesome!) I like Don Cheadle a ton more than Terrence Howard and finally seeing Rhodey as War Machine was spectacular. Justin Hammer was brilliantly casted too with Sam Rockwell. Plus, BLACK WIDOW!! Scarlett Johannson did amazing!
4: Iron Man (2008)
This film would be ranked higher on my list, but you'll see why in a minute. Iron Man was by far the best of his trilogy and most common fan fav in The Avengers. Jeff Bridges was an awesome Iron Monger! Terrence Howard decently portrayed Rhodey. The action and comedy blended nicely. RDJ was born for this part!
3: The Avengers (2012)
The reason this film isn't my number one is because of my next two picks. The Avengers was an incredible film. I felt like a kid on Christmas Day watching this film. I had been wait for 5 years to see this film and here it was! I can't even really explain how good The Avengers was! So let's continue!
2: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
This film was incredible! The story & action was so good i had to give it the number too spot over The Avengers! Cap 2 advances the phase 2 story more than any of the other films, what with the *SPOILER* and all. I can't wait to see how this affects The Avengers in Age of Ultron and what happens with Cap next in Captain America 3.
And lo, and behold...
1: Guardians of the Galaxy
Alright this is very controversial I know, but hear me out. Guardians was the biggest risk Marvel has taken since Iron Man. The action and comedy blended in a way that i have never seen before! Chris Pratt's Star-Lord is the new Kirk/Iron Man all rolled into one! Bradley Cooper & Vin Diesel's voices in the roles of Rocket Raccoon & Groot were amazing and Gamora & Drax (Zoe Saldana & Dave Bautista) were the warriors that brought the fights to life. Thanos & the Infinity Stones story was finally brought into the foreground. Plus this film has the best soundtrack I've ever heard!
Bonus: IMDb gives each film a meta-rating or meta-score, this is the MCU in meta-ranking...
