In May of 2011, a certain amount of the population waiting with baited breath and on bended knee for the coming of The Rapture - y'know when the believers in the "true faith" are sent up to heaven at the Second Coming of Christ and the rest of us get punished for believing in anything else. So naturally, twitter was HIGHLY entertaining.

The story [edited for my amusement] an action-packed supernatural thriller that addresses questions of life, love and belief against an apocalyptic backdrop - but first, lemme take a selfie, and then some video footage because this HAAS to go on YouTube, did you SEE that fire tornado?? Amazing. A group of close friends gather for a wedding, but the celebration is shattered by a series of cataclysmic events and enemies foretold by biblical end-times prophecies - I'm curious which ones, because nothing is shown except for some inferred wing noises and some mysterious force banging down a church door. I really hope they've chosen the apocryphal passages that deal with the multi headed beasts, that would be cool. The survivors face a horrifying, uncertain future as they scramble for safety, but as their world collapses around them in chaos and terror will they choose real life through faith - wait a mean die so you can live for reals up in the clouds?, or just try to survive and get smooshed by angry angels and "fallen ones?"

Hm. The end of that synopsis sounds strangely like a detail that was meant to be an undertone that ended up being outside voice. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Let's make sure to get it all on video.

IMDb synopsis: After a series of worldwide cataclysmic events, a group of survivors struggle to survive. - That doesn't sound like the same movie at ALL! I smell a rat.

What do YOU think of this trailer? Is [The Remaining](movie:2163025) right on the money, or did they miss the boat on this Rapture stuff?

The Remaining hits theatres in the US on September 5th. As much as I honestly enjoy religious horror, I think I'll be skipping this one.
