Jenji Kohan, who is both my personal career and hair idol, has crafted some of the most awesome and female-centric shows in television history. Specifically, Weeds and Orange is the New Black have garnered her love from both fans and critics, resulting in multiple Emmy nominations for Kohan's shows/casts. Now, according to a cover story on Kohan in The Hollywood Reporter, she is in preliminary pilot negotiations with HBO to craft a drama based on the Salem witch trials.

This is really exciting news for a host of reasons. First, Jenji Kohan is already behind a show that features some of the best written female characters on any medium right now (OITNB), and a show about the Salem witch trials would obviously be very woman-oriented. Second, while the first half of American Horror Story: Coven started out strong, Ryan Murphy is notorious for not being able to finish what he starts in any sort of meaningful way. With Kohan front a series focused on witches, we may actually get the kind of show were promised from Coven.
