Fresh from playing the villainous Ronan the Accuser in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Lee Pace has been confirmed as the lead in sci-fi thriller Prisoner of War, directed by Joe Miale.

He joins Skyfall star Berenice Marlohe in a story of an American soldier and French aid worker who unite to battle an alien invasion. He replaces Alex Russell in the role.

Pace is best known for having previously starred in dark comedy Pushing Daisies, for which he was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe. He will reprise his role as Elf Thranduil in the upcoming finale of The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies later this year.

Previously, he also starred in Twilight and AMC's Halt and Catch Fire, which completed its first season this past Sunday.

Despite these box-office successes, Pace has yet to make his name as an action star. Fingers crossed the movie lives up to its billing. (Though I'll still be swooning regardless.)
