"Ahhh! I knew it!"
Yes, that's right. Apparently we haven't seen the end of the Bluths just yet. According to Netflix Content Officer Ted Sarandos and Arrested Development star Will Arnett, the popular comedy about the OC's (don't call it that) most dysfunctional family is returning for a fifth season.
Earlier, Sarandos was quoted as saying a fifth season of [Arrested Development](movie:38917) was "just a matter of when", while Arnett has now confirmed that at least he's involved in the new season. While promoting [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](movie:323027) on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, he stated:
The answer is yes. You know, the truth is, that the guy who’s the big boss man at Netflix, he announced it. We don’t know when, but it’s going to happen.
Of course, fans of the show will know Arrested Development was resurrected on Netflix after enjoying three glorious seasons on FOX (who cancelled it prematurely - as they often do with these things). Season 4 of Arrested Development did receive a relatively mixed reaction from fans, but I think most of us were just overcome with happiness to see them back on the screen together (although admittedly the family spent a lot of the season apart...)
In hindsight, perhaps the show would have stood the test of time better without a fourth season, and I do feel the quality was slightly diluted by the Netflix addition. However, having said that, the ending of fourth season was relatively underwhelming and there still seems to be plenty of places to take the story.
Plus, if it means getting more of this guy, I'm all in.
Should there be a fifth season of Arrested Development?
