Hi, I’m Jen. I was one of a handful of audience members, who knew to stay until the end of the credits for the Marvel Easter egg…and I am an Anomaly.

I probably could have summed all that up by saying,” I am Groot!”

In this edition of our geek girl podcast, called Anomaly, my co-host Angela and I review Guardians of The Galaxy. This film was our introduction to the roughly organized assembly of Marvel heroes, so please keep that in mind as you listen to our "fresh out of the theater" review. We've never read the comic book series and had no idea what to expect, but we loved the film and are now considering ourselves "new fans".

Stream our episode below for the full review and commentary. But first, I'll give you a brief synopsis of our thoughts.

I was was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the story. It made me laugh and cry... it had me on the edge of my seat from the very start! Angela loved the organic humor and was laughing aloud, right along with me. And as a former costume maker for the theatre, she had high praise for the film's costume designs. In fact, we both commented on how refreshing it was to see female science fiction characters in flattering clothing that wasn't overly sexualized. It put most of the focus on the character, not just her physical attributes. We're not prudes, but we both appreciated that.

As Gen Xers who once lived by the “awesome mix tape”, we each LOVED the soundtrack. It’s definitely one to buy.

The casting was great! The dialogue was clever and the comedy was non-stop awesome! We highly recommend you see this movie… now!
