Legendary actor/comedian Robin Williams was found dead on Monday.
He was 63.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office says that authorities found William's body inside his home. He was found unresponsive, and that the apparent cause of death was suicide. The death occurred in Tiburon, in Northern California.
Williams was unconscious and not breathing and the coroner suspects suicide due to asphyxia.
Robin Williams was last seen alive at his home at 10 PM Sunday night.
According to his publicist, Robin had been battling with severe depression. Williams went back to rehab a month ago to work on his sobriety. We're told alcohol was a factor.
Williams had struggled with alcohol and cocaine abuse in the early 1980s but was sober for nearly 20 years.
This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken.
Susan Schneider, Robin's wife, says, "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken."
Williams was best known for his starring roles in classic comedies like Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Good Will Hunting. He rose to fame while playing Mork, an alien in the TV show Mork & Mindy, a Happy Days spinoff.
This is truly a sad day.
