Earlier today, The Verge reported that Michael Bay said he would like to leave the Transformers franchise.

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make"

Bay's Transformers movies have received terrible critical responses despite having huge numbers at the box office, last week the latest installment in the franchise had gotten to the $1 Billion mark. Bay goes on to say:

"I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles."

Michael Bay's Transformers series is the 4th highest grossing movie series and has made a total of almost $4 Billion!

Now personally, I think this is both good and bad news, because the studio would want the next director to replicate Michael Bay's style for the untitled [Transformers 5](movie:1325503) so there wouldn't be much of a difference. However, if they let the next director have his own take on the Transformers, then that would be interesting because if you have "Transformers" in any part of your title, the movie will still make $1 Billion at the box office.

What do you think of Michael Bay leaving this franchise?
