Upcoming Laika animation, The Boxtrolls, has just debuted a new trailer which introduces some of the bizarre titular creations.

The film, which is being produced by the same animation studio which brought you Coraline and Paranorman, stars the voices of a whole host of mostly British stars, including Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Ben Kingsley, Richard Ayoade, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. Check out the new trailer below:

A young orphaned boy raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator. Based on the children's novel 'Here Be Monsters' by Alan Snow.

Of course, Laika are well-known for sticking to the more traditional forms of animation. So, although we can probably expect some CGI wizardry, The Boxtrolls will mostly consist of good ol' old fashioned stop-animation.

The Boxtrolls is expected to open in the UK on September 12, 2014 before opening in the US on September 26th.
