After Microsoft's presentation earlier in the day, the Gamescom Playstation event is expected to bring us more details of the highly anticipated game from Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry 4.
Ubisoft are quickly becoming the go-to company for AAA games, currently boasting titles such as Assassin's Creed (and we may see the upcoming Assassin's Creed Rogue at Playstation's Gamescom event, too) Watch Dogs and the stunning Tom Clancy's The Division.

Far Cry 4 at Gamescom 2014
But back to Far Cry: what do we know so far?
Far Cry has a long tradition of taking gamers to different regions of the world, and Far Cry 4 is no exception. This time the locale is the fictional Himalayan region of Kyrat, and sees you take control of Ajay Ghale, who is fulfilling his mother's dying wish of scattering her ashes over the mountains.
The game's first 5 minutes have already been revealed, and they introduce not only Ghale, but also the region's deranged dictator Pagan Min. Take a look at the thrilling sequence here:
New Gameplay Features Announced At Gamescom 2014?
So apart from a plot that involves going up against a bloodthirsty tyrant, what new features can we expect in terms of gameplay?
One element that has already been well discussed is the rideable elephants which gamers will to able to use to navigate tricky terrain as well as smash down gates, storm fortresses and level outposts, but that is only one element of the game.
[Far Cry](movie:1000355) 4 is a game which will adapt to the way you play. You can throw bait in order to get animals to attack a group of soldiers, or cause a distraction allowing you to slip by undetected. Do this, and you will develop your skill tree's stealth abilities.
Alternatively, you could take command of the gyrocopter, fly above your enemies and drop bombs on their location. Shooting and driving vehicles at the same time are one new feature of Far Cry 4, and doing this will increase your abilities in another direction.
In the E3 demo alone, gamers saw multiple different outcomes come out of the same fairly limited situation. The world of Far Cry 4 has as many possibilities as the imagination of the person playing can produce.
Far Cry 4: Kyrat's Deadly Vertical landscape
The Himalayan mountains is one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world, and Far Cry 4 does not disappoint in terms of bringing the landscape to life. But life is not easy in the mountains, and one aspect that Far Cry 4 manages to get across is just how difficult it is to navigate a vertical landscape.
The wing suit was a popular feature of Far Cry 3, and it makes a spectacular return here, allowing you to freely skip from mountain top to mountain top.
Another new feature of the landscape are the fortresses. In previous titles, the landscape was littered with outposts, where enemies would congregate and from which they would hunt you down. Now, along with the outposts, there are the more heavily guarded fortresses.
There is roughly one fortress for every four outposts, and don't think you can ignore them. If you suppress an outposts without taking down the nearby fortress, the enemy will periodically retaliate until you have taken down the main base.
PS4: Sony's Co-op Mode Coup
When deciding whether they should get a PS4 or an Xbox One, fans of Far Cry 4 will need to take into consideration the fact that the PS4 has one major advantage: co-op mode.
Sony have reached an agreement with Ubisoft meaning that once you purchase Far Cry 4 for the PS4, you are allowed up to 10 invites which you can send to your friends giving them the ability to join you in exploring the world of Kyrat, taking down enemies, driving jeeps (or elephants) and generally causing mayhem in the mountains.
The Xbox One, with the strict restrictions Microsoft puts on free content on Xbox Live, will mean that anyone with that console will miss out.
