A few years ago, nobody would of thought that an Aquaman movie would ever come to reality. If you pitched the idea to them they would probably laugh and tell some classic Aquaman jokes.

In Robot Chicken he was such a joke, his teammates didn't even respect him.

But that's the past, an Aquaman movie has been announced, and the character will finally step out and get the respect he deserves (providing the movie is a success).

Kurt Johnstad (300, Act of Valor, 300: Rise of an Empire) and Will Beall (Castle, Gangster Squad) have both been hired to write the script of the film, and the best script will be used. This is good news because both writers will push themselves, to try and cement their place as the movies official screenwriter. It's worth noting that if both scripts are really good, they can potentially combine the two to create an even better script.

No actor has officially been cast as The King of Atlantis, but many people have accepted the fact that our hero will be played by Jason Momoa (Game Of Thrones, Conan The Barbarian, Stargate Atlantis) after months of rumors and hints. Aquaman was hinted at a few times in [Man of Steel](movie:15593), and many fans expect to see him appear, at least as a cameo in Batman vs Superman. It should also be a no brainer that he will appear in the Justice League movie.

All this comes after Wb and Dc released 9 Untitled Dc Film Dates. (I have an article with my predictions on which movies will accompany those dates if you're interested), which shows they're very serious about creating this Dc Universe, and competing with the marvel universe. Marvel had previously written scripts for Namor, (A character similar to [Aquaman](movie:264237) but for Marvel) but none have come to past. It seems Dc may get to land the Aquatic hero a movie first.

I think announcing the Aquaman movie this early means we could see it released in either 2016 alongside Batman v Superman, or 2017 when [Justice League](movie:401267) is rumored to come out. I personally am so excited for this. Aquaman is my favourite hero next to Green Arrow, and I'm glad both of them have gained the popularity they deserve. I'm really interested to see how they will tell his origin story and how Atlantis will look. Also if Momoa does play Aquaman, will he dye his hair blonde? All these questions and so long of a wait!
