This reboot is set for 22, July 2016. Before I get into the rest of the article, let me show you the other Power Rangers in chronological order.
Like Mighty Morphin, Turbo also had a movie.
This Power Rangers team is on my top 3! I loved this one so much as a kid! Hahaha, I remember when my mom bought this for our VHS. I feel old remembering things like this, and I'm only 16!
Ninja Storm is my all time favorite team of Power Rangers. I remember being 5 years old and watching the first episode. These were also the first Power Rangers I have ever seen. I love me some Ninja Storm.
Power Rangers Dino Thunder is my second favorite. Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder and Wild Force is my top 3.
The series of Power Rangers has been around for 20 years and has numerous fans. I can still enjoy myself and have a great time, share laughs, order pizza, do whatever and watch Power Rangers. Power Rangers was really meant for smaller kids though. That's kind of why it's cheesy. You know what I mean, sparks flying off them whenever they get hit, stuff like that. Danger is never real to the Rangers, but little kids aren't going to be criticizing the show, they are just going to be hooked. If the 2016 reboot is successful, maybe we could see other movies.
When I say cinematic universe, I don't mean like Marvel with the Guardians and the Avengers. The TV shows have done many crossovers. But not all at once. They have to be in the same time period. Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder had a crossover, and then Dino Thunder and SPD had a crossover. But never every single team at once. There was a Red Ranger crossover. Not all of them of course, but most.
Rather it's a comic book, novel, video game or tv adaptation, you need to veer from the source material. With the 2016 reboot, I am hoping for a less cheesy more serious Power Rangers. That doesn't mean it doesn't have to be funny. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy proved more than anything that comedy and seriousness can coexist.
Problems with assembling a PRCU: (I am not about to look up over a hundred actors to find out ages and stuff ahahaha) The actors (villains and others included) might not want to come back, can't come back or some would and some wouldn't want to return to be a part of Power Rangers.
Then there's the peeps who are young enough to return and the ones that aren't. I don't know how Lionsgate plans on doing it, completely fresh and young blood, or keeping as many of the old people as possible. If this movie is a hit, then we can expect more movies. Let it suck, then bye bye Power Rangers.
Honestly, I would hype up Power Rangers once I announce the movie. I would have a next-gen Power Rangers game come out. Every single team in one game. Make it like Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
The big screen isn't a place for everything. I would rather see all of the shows remastered on tv before I see a movie.
Let me know what you guys think. I am the only one that thinks there can be hope. My dad passes, my sister thinks it'll suck, my mom does and my step-dad thinks it's a relic. Hahahaha
