Jenna Coleman is relatively new to Doctor Who, having gradually replaced Karen Gillan, but with rumors now flying around of a sad end to the Season 8, some sources are reporting that Coleman is also leaving the show.
Coleman's character Clara is the latest in a long line - nearly 60 - of companions who have helped the otherworldly Doctor form a connection between his world and ours. But it sounds as though the 28-year-old actress has decided to hang up her travelling shoes after just one and a half years on the job and, according to the Daily Mirror, she'll leave at Christmas. The source is reporting that:
The conversations about Jenna's exit have started, and a plan is in place which is being ironed out…By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. She has been absolutely brilliant in the role, but everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period.
They also point out that this decision was mutual in nature, and add that:
It's important to keep the series moving and fast-paced, and the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline.
