*I wrote most of this article before the rumours about Avengers 3 being split into two films surfaced*
It's been a while since I wrote an article on here. So, here goes.
Today (back in August) I saw [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) which is a fantastic film with an even greater soundtrack. This film has probably been reviewed to death by now so I will just say this: for those who are unsure about seeing it: it combines Star Wars with the humour of [Iron Man 3](movie:24391) and it works.
The big villain of the MCU seems to be Thanos and we can be pretty sure (practically certain) he is in [The Avengers 3](movie:738027) (likely 2018) and he is likely (again, practically certain) to have a strong presence in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which is released in 2017. That could well be the last film before Avengers 3, depending on when the third Avengers movie is released
With recent rumours of a Guardians/Avengers team up I was thinking a pretty cool thing to do would be to split a big Thanos film into two with GotG 2 and Avengers 3 being the two films it is split into. Hear me out. I hate splitting up movies as much as the next guy but extra Marvel is good Marvel and I like this idea.
If this were to happen then Guardians of the Galaxy 2 would come before Avengers 3. [Guardians of the Galaxy 2](movie:1081113) could end with some showdown between the Guardians and Thanos with Thanos ultimately winning (but not killing them).
So what if Thanos does some crazy stuff and ends up wiping out the Guardians and makes his way to Earth? Then 2/3 of the way through Avengers 3 Peter Quill (who followed/knew where Thanos was going) and maybe Gamora could show up on Earth to help the Avengers. Bam. Avengers/Guardians Crossover.
Or maybe by then the Avengers have been wiped out and Tony Stark is the only one left who recruits the Guardians and makes them the... Avengers of the Galaxy. Genius, I know.
