In a turn of events that surprises no one and serves as a relief to a few, the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS awareness and support has officially raised more money thus far than the third installment of The Expendables. Thus far, the somewhat controversial movement (thanks to certain participants joining in and neglecting to support the cause - along with the original problem with the challenge, detailed here) has raised a total of about $31 million dollars. WOAH!
Compared to this, [The Expendables 3](movie:388705) has made just under $19 million to date.
A celebrity satire blog detailed the story of a distraught Sylvester Stallone reacting to the news has been circulating around the internet. In this story, Stallone challenges moviegoers to either see Expendables 3 or dump a bucket of ice on their heads. We're happy to report that this particular story is complete satire, so don't worry about Rocky being a jerk anytime soon.
For anyone still wondering what ALS is: ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a fatal disease where people lose muscle control, including the ability to speak, eat or even breathe. Life expectancy after being diagnosed is between 2-5 years and current treatment can only extend it by a few months.
